Goa and Beyond Tour

Dates December 1st - 14th 2019

Any motorcycle tour of Goa should take in everything that makes Goa great: the beaches; the markets; the food; the cool places to hang out and of course riding the legendary Royal Enfield motorbike along the superb coast roads meandering through fishing villages, under the palms.

Well, guess what? You are going to do just that and a whole lot more.

This trip also takes in the inland state of Karnataka, the real India, beautiful friendly people, rugged landscapes, tribes, tigers and ancient ruined cities. Rest assured that you will be going to the most exciting off the track places, by the least known and most enjoyable riding roads and staying in the most attractive locations and accommodation along the way.

To that end, we start and finish the tour on a paradisiacal palm fringed bay with great food, astounding sunsets and soft white sand where on calm days you can watch the dolphins frolic from your table as you take your breakfast overlooking the sea. From here we can get used to the bikes, tour locally and enjoy the beautiful natural environment as well as having some great places to eat and visit nearby.

The first four days are spent cruising up the Indian Ocean coastline, exploring its natural heritage and culture while sampling the excellent cuisine and social life for which Goa is famed.

You will be going to areas and places that that only those in the know, know about; far from the rush of crazy tourism and well off the beaten track.

For the next 7 days we turn inland and cross the Western Ghats mountain range, ride through India’s lush rural heartland taking a few days to get to two of the greatest ancient monuments known to man, the largely undiscovered lost cities at the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Badami and Hampi.

The remains of the 6th Century capital of the Chalukyan Empire at Badami are stunningly located on an elevated escarpment and offer a superb days ride to get to. After an afternoon exploring the local villages, fort and caves around Badami by bike, we ride again through beautiful countryside, pretty villages with friendly tractor driving farmers, their wives in colorful saris smiling and waving at us before finally reaching Hampi, one of the highlights of any trip to India and a place quite different to anywhere else on the planet.

This once famous deserted medieval city sits in a 55-square kilometer moonscape of rocky hills, green coconut groves and ancient temples with a river bubbling flowing through the center of it.

We spend two days here exploring the stupendous landscapes and sites, having a picnic by the river where you can swim also, and watching one of Hampi’s stupendous sunsets from the most exotic of locations.

On our journey back to the coast you’ll ride deep into the magnificent jungled hills of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary getting there for evening where you can swim in the river, relax or stroll amongst the trees of this wild and lush tropical forest.

To finish off we’ll take a world class riding road down to the sea, then a last cruise up along the palm fringed coastline of Goa back to our paradisiacal starting point where you can relax and feel at home again.

Does that sound like a real holiday? It is indeed!

As ever, there are only eight places available so please book early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The Route

Live India Motorcycle Tour Goa

For this trip, we have focused on location as well as luxury, for as we know location is everything, especially in a place like India.

As always, there are a good few luxury nights on the trip and we have also selected some other superb locations to stay simply because the position and charm of the accommodation is spectacular!

On the inland part of your journey to the tribal state of Karnataka we’ve booked two fabulous choices for you in both Hampi and Dandeli as well as captivating settings on Goa’s finest beaches.

Goa is a gourmand’s delight. Whether it be freshly caught fish, crab or prawns cooked straight in the pan or grilled with butter, pepper or garlic, or rich Goan coconut curries whose spices are ground by hand at the crack of dawn daily, you will be in food heaven. For those with a more western palate there are superb stone cooked pizzas, fresh salads and other European dishes widely available. Outside of Goa you will find an abundance of mouthwatering local delicacies to tempt you as well as traditional western fare. Vegetarians will be in their element too, as of course much of India is vegetarian and the range of dishes is thrilling.

Having been on motorbike trips in Thailand, USA, South Africa and Spain I was not expecting to be surprised... But I was indeed surprised. It was actually the most interesting motor-biking experience of my life.
